However, you can change your life

However, you can change your life

I have been giving counseling for many years.  Many hopelessly ask me “the problem I have is my own personality.  Do you think I can change my personality?”  So, I answer “because God created your personality, the basis of your personality cannot be changed.  However, you can change your life.”

Let me give you some question.  Who made those statements as listed below?

1)    “As I became 31 years old, the only thing that suits me is my death.”

2)    “There is no one more miserable than I am.”

3)    “There is no one like me who is fast in getting angry, envious and the mind twisted.”

These statements are so negative.  Now, the answers are;

1)    Nightingale, who is the role model of nurses.

2)    Lincoln, who was the president of the US, famous for releasing slaves.

3)    Inazou Nitobe, whose portrait was on the old 5,000 Yen notes, a great contributor in the areas of Education and International Relations.

Those above three people were suffering with their own personalities being “negative and short-tempered.”  Yet, their contributions to our society were so great.

How could they do that?  Some would say “because they had special talents.”  Yes, they might have talents, yet that is not the decisive factor.  The most important thing is to change the point of view in your life.  In other words, you should change your focus from criticizing your own personality or reacting to people’s evaluation which always change over time, to the creator, almighty and loving God who can change your shortcomings to blessings.  That is how you can change your life to something blessing.

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (II Corinthians 4:18, NIV)

December is the month of cerebrating Christmas.  Why don’t you spend your Christmas at a church?  You can start your life with full of God’s blessing.

A Message from an artwork

A Message from an artwork

Autumn is the season for enjoying book-reading, outdoor picnicking, and mostly it is the season for enjoying arts.  The other day, I visited an art museum.  As I enjoyed watching artworks, various things came up on my mind.

Imagine there is a painting in front of you.  It does not matter what kind of painting, but let us just say there is the Mona Lisa.  Now let me ask a question.  Q: How was this piece of artwork created?  There may be two possible answers to this question.

(1)   An artist created it.

(2)   Appeared by itself. (A tree in a mountain was rained and blown, later it was tarnished, and completed itself in time)

If you ask this question to anyone, 100 out of 100 people would say “(2) is impossible.”  Even little children know that the answer is (1).  So, let me ask you another question.  You may say your answer is (1), but have you seen the artist actually creating it?  If you have not seen it being created, how would you be sure that it was created by an artist? You chose (1), because it was the only logical answer to the question.  Surely, we do not need to see an artwork being created, but there is no doubt that someone had created it.

Furthermore, how were ocean and mountains created?  Why are there four seasons, letting us enjoy beautiful colored leaves in autumn?  It is clear that we, human did not create any of these.  If that is true, then wouldn’t you think it is logical that there must be a creator, God who created them?

The Bible says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1, NIV).”  The Bible clearly proclaims there is God.  And God declares “I created the world, and you.”  You do not exist in this world by chance.  You are the artwork of God, and He has created you with purposes.

God is knocking on the door of your heart.  If we seek him, God will make himself appear to you.  I wish you will find an answer in the Bible.  Through the Bible, you will find the meanings and purposes of your life.

Because wanting to be reunited with my father in heaven

Yesterday, our brother in Christ, Mr. H. of 65 years old had returned back to heaven.  5 years ago, the pancreatic cancer was found, and he had fought for his life since then.

By being beside with him through his fight against cancer, I found an assurance of hope in his Christianfaith.

Some may complain to God by saying, why do you make me suffer through cancer?  Yet, Mr. H. said the cancer made me realized how wonderful the salvation of Christ is.  I am trulythankful for it.  Knowing that I will be able to win the victory over death and to receive an eternal life is so precious to me.

Death is cruel which takes away everything.  The work, the family, and everything we have.  But when Mr. H. told me about his faith, his eyes were filled with tears of joy.

Not only that, his daughter who teaches at a university came and talked to me.  She said I have been to the church since I was little.  But I couldnt take a step forward to be a Christian.  But, because I want to be reunited with my father in heaven, I also want to receive His salvationI wish to be baptized.  Do you think that such motivation is inappropriate?  I told her if you wish to be baptized hoping that would cure his disease, then I would say it would be an inappropriate motivation.  However, if you wish to be reunited with him in heaven, I find no faulty motivation.  Soon after, westarted the preparation study for her baptism.  On August 26th, she confessed her faith, and was baptized.  It was such a heart touching moment.

The Bible says;

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Roman 8:28, NIV)

Do you have an assured hope that you will win the victory over death?  I want you to find such hope through the Bible.  Please come to the church.  I welcome you sincerely.
